Artist Sam Drumgoole

Sam Drumgoole was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1976. He moved to Rochester, NY with his family in his early adolescent years. He studied and graduated from the School of the Arts in Rochester. During high school, Sam also attended the summer camp Horizons where he practiced ceramics, metal smithing, and glassblowing. Meeting Dale Chihuly at the age of 15 changed his life. Dale invited Sam to attend the Pilchuck Glass School for an entire summer to take classes, and work at the campus. After high school, Sam lived in Seattle for 4 years, working at Chihuly's production studio, The Boathouse. In 1997 Sam returned to NY, where he attended Alfred University. Sam now lives and works in Columbus, OH as a practicing professional artist and is co-owner of The Columbus Glass Art Center.

Sam has worked for a number of internationally recognized artists throughout his young career, including traveling to Japan to work with Hiroshi Yamano, the opportunity to assist the great Italian maestro Davide Salvadore, as well as working for glass artists Ben and Deborah Moore, Martin Blank, Dale Chihuly, Richard Jolley, sculptor Rene Stout, and mixed media artist Michael Rogers. Sam has worked with many artists, including Judy Chicago, collaborating her ideas with his expertise in the medium of glass to realize her vision.
